FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  1. Question: What is the citation in the UVA Procurement Rules and/or Code of Virginia which references the requirement for a LOI & SOQ for an Agency 209 project to be advertised for 30 days?
Answer: See Section 2.2-4301 where the 10 days are specified under each of the procurement methods. Our procurement rules repeat this. Note that Codified Autonomy exempts us from this section.

  2. Question: How many copies do we need of Construction Documents?
Answer: The University's General Counsel has agreed that we may issue and process fewer copies of the Construction documents. We only need one original of the Construction Contract, Construction Bonds, Power of Attorney, and Insurance Certificates. When the contract is finally approved, Contract Admin makes a copy of all documents for distribution to the Contractor as its executed contract. The Contractor may request an original and if so, we can circulate two originals. Change Orders may be processed the same, with one original only, unless the Contractor wishes to have original signatures. If so, they would only need the HECO-11 and not the change order backup.
