The eighteen month construction project to renovate
Garrett Hall will result in the permanent home of the
Frank Batten School of Leadership and Public Policy. The
historic Garrett Hall was constructed in 1909 as the
University’s refractory, and later converted to offices
in 1959. New construction will preserve the historic
great hall as a multi-purpose work and gathering space,
restore the original two-story lobby, provide
administrative and faculty offices, and student work
rooms and offices. The historic building will receive
new HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire suppression, and
tel/data systems. The flat roofs of the 1970 annex, on
the east side of Garrett Hall, will receive vegetated
roof systems.
Construction is currently scheduled for completion in
June 2011.
