The South Chiller Plant Expansion provides
additional chilled water capacity in preparation for
growth in the Health System area. The project will
consist of a two story, 10,000 gsf addition with new
chillers and other mechanical equipment.
Located behind the Medical Research Building 4 and
along Crispell Drive, the plant will provide up to
4,000 tons of additional chilled water to the
Medical Center for air conditioning and equipment
cooling in new projects such as the Clinical Cancer
Center, the Carter Harrison Medical Education
Building, Hospital Bed Expansion projects and
future hospital expansion. The current design of the
plant will have the capability to incorporate an
additional 2,000 ton chiller unit and support
systems as needed in the future. Currently the
building system and surrounding landscaping is near
completion with all mechanical systems installed and
undergoing commissioning and testing. Final
construction is scheduled for completion fall 2008.
