Inforum 99

BUILDING FOR THE FUTURE
Construction Inforum 99 was held at the University of Virginia's Student
Activity Building on Wednesday, January 13, 1999 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
The University of Virginia is a University of many strong
traditions. While many of these involve academics and athletics, a very strong tradition
that supports the University's mission is its aggressive construction program. In the past
ten years the University has spent $300 million dollars on construction not including the
$220 million spent on the University Hospital in the late '80s and the $79 million that
will be spent on the Carl Smith Center Expansion at Scott Stadium Project.
The University's Facilities Planning & Construction
Department (FP&C) presented "CONSTRUCTION INFORUM 99" as an opportunity for
contractors and subcontractors to meet with and strengthen relations with FP&C staff.
The three operational divisions of FP&C; Capital Programs, Health Sciences Center, and
Engineering, met with attendees to outline current and future construction programs at the
University. Additionally, representatives from the office of Contract Administration,
Administrative Services and Information Systems were present to answer questions and
demonstrate FP&C's Word Wide Web Pages.
